A great deal in a terrific location (West 54th Street near Times Square), the Aladdin Hotel is a cheap, multicolored hotel that offers hostel-type rooms (as well as singles and doubles) that are popular with students and visitors with low budgets.

The 9-story hotel features dormitory-style rooms that are clean and well-maintained, rooms share bathroom and shower areas (women can request a dorm room once you make a reservation). Rooms at the Aladdin do not have air conditioning, but windows may be opened during the summer and you can also bring your own fan so your stay is more comfortable. Clean sheets and pillows are provided by the hotel for a small cost, laundry facilities are located in the basement, lockers are available for rent, smoking is allowed in the lobby, there’s a computer station for rent in the lobby and residents can make their way up to the terrace on the 9th floor and enjoy a tremendous view of the New York skyline.

A stay at the Aladdin will put you right in the heart of Manhattan, so take advantage of the nearby sites such as Restaurant Row (around the corner on 46th St.) and the Theater District or walk around and get a true feel of New York’s epicenter.
